For years, I forced myself to stay up as late as possible just to fall asleep out of sheer exhaustion.
If I went to bed early, I’d lay there for hours, frustrated as I listened to my husband snore or the shower drip. And when I finally managed to slip into sleep, a snore, a bark, or a car zooming by would wake me up again. Then, my racing mind would take over. (Why does everything seem so dramatic at 3 a.m.?)

Life without my alarm clock? Yeah, right. The snooze button was my best friend, and caffeine was a close second.
In fact, my post-lunch trip to Starbucks was so I wouldn’t fall asleep on my drive home. (Ever cranked up the radio or rolled down the windows just to help you make it to your destination without falling asleep? I have, and man, is that scary!)
On the rare nights that I did sleep, I’d often wake up feeling like I hadn’t sleep at all, wanting to pull the covers up over my head.
Once I learned the keys to how the body, mind, and emotions handle stress, everything changed. I began to incorporate what I had learned, and in a matter of weeks, my sleep transformed.
I can quiet my mind within minutes. I fall asleep easily, deeply, and average 8 to 9 hours every night. My dreams are incredible. I wake up feeling rested and full of energy. I lost 15 pounds. I can’t remember the last time I used an alarm clock.
